Our Story

Welcome To Pfendler Ranches

Raising cattle is a century old Pfendler family tradition. It started with David C. Pfendler of Lafayette, Indiana.

David’s family raised Angus steers and grew corn. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree from Purdue University in 1932, he returned to the family farm, operating it successfully through the peak of the Great Depression.

Eventually, David would leave full-time farming and become a faculty member at his alma mater. He retired as the Associate Dean of Agriculture and eventually became the namesake for the agricultural building.

Decades later, his son Peter Pfendler began breeding Hereford cattle on Sonoma Mountain.

Today, we’re taking that vision to the next level. With the genetic tools and selection capabilities at our disposal today, we can build cattle that are sound, fertile, attractive, and durable, with EPD’s that provide downstream commercial value.

We look forward to our first bull and female sales in the fall of 2029.
